This article is for users that have forgotten their PIN code, has damaged, lost or replaced their phone. The steps outlined in this article can also be used to migrate to Bifrost Wallet from other wallets, including but not limited to:

  • MetaMask

  • MyEtherWallet (MEW)

  • Ledger Nano X or Ledger Nano S

  • Cobo Vault or Keystone

  • CoolWallet S

  • Exodus

  • Trezor T

First of all, make sure that your device is running the latest version of Android or iOS. Installing a crypto wallet and storing private keys for crypto assets on your phone or tablet should not be taken lightly.

You are solely responsible for keeping your device secure and protecting your Bifrost Wallet from unauthorized access. We recommend you to uninstall any unneccesary apps, especially custom keyboards, clipboard handlers and recording software. Also make sure that your device is protected by a passphrase, PIN code or biometrics.

After installing Bifrost Wallet and selecting that you already have a wallet, you'll be asked to restore your wallet with a 12- or 24-word recovery phrase.

The first thing you need to do is to go and find your recovery phrase, as you will need it to restore your wallet. Once you have your recovery phrase in front of you, be it a sheet of paper or a CryptoSteel capsule, enter one word at a time in your Bifrost Wallet app. Separate each word with a space and do not include any numbers.

The continue button will light up and you'll be able to proceed once you have entered a valid recovery phrase. Your recovery phrase will be encrypted and imported locally to your Bifrost Wallet app on your device.

After importing your recovery phrase, you'll able to receive and access all crypto assets currently supported by Bifrost Wallet. If you can't see some of your crypto assets and they are supported by Bifrost Wallet, confirm that your receiving addresses match your old wallet. If any of your receiving addresses differs from your old wallet or if you had multiple addresses in your old wallet, you can change to your desired addresses under Settings > Advanced > Address Derivation.
